phuket travels

got on a bus from phuket town to bangkok, took about thirteen hours , but the seats fully reclined, a/c and movies all for 550 baht so well worth it, dropped us all off right at the Ko Sahn Road, which is the mecca for travellers in the city. Staying at a lovely little place from the lonely planet book called the dd inn, worth 750 baht a night as the rooms are all a/c, spotlessly clean, free swimming pool on the roof and includes a stuff your face buffet breakfast!!! Bangkok i was told, was really mad and hectic!! maybe its not to me after New Delhi, for as i sat in a tuk tuk yesterday i could have easily just nodded off for a while!!! There seems to be a whole generation of backpackers that dont seem to leave this road and thats a pity as theres so much to see in the city, went to the muay thai kickboxing, wat poh(a huge 45 metre golden buddha) and gonna catch a boat uptown today!! Still resisting the urge for dreads etc..makes me laugh whenever i see people "turning native"!!
would you do yhat at home. maybe/maybe not!!oh well everyone to theyre own , although i do sometimes feel like suggesting soap to them...oh and by the way if anyone is over here, then please to remember that when off the beach wear a top or shirt as the thai people take offense, they would never say as they are far too polite, but try to have a little respect for theyre ways!!!cheers from grumpy old man..lol

phi phi

ok, so i caught a bus from penang in malaysia up to krabi, bit of a long journey , but everyone on board was ok...than caught a ferry over to ko phi phi, the island where the Beach was filmed . have to admit it is absolutely stunning although quite expensive and touristy, so any backpackers beware!!! the scenery makes up for it and you have to go snorkelling amongst all the fish ...

kualar lumpar

been travelling by bus from singapore to kl via a smaller city called melaka, kl is absolutely huge with your usual range of western bars and eateries, actually managed to have a pint of Abbot Ale today, so now stevie is a happy bloke!!! people are very friendly and the whole place seems to be a mecca for mobile phones and laptops, just missed the grand prix also. heading to a tea plantation town for the next couple of nights where its supposed to be a little cooler, as its about 38 in the shade at the moment and im sweating in places that i didnt think possible!!!!

singapore

got to singapore, i think its probably the cleanest most organised country in the world, $500 dollar fine for dropping a cigarette but and chewing gum is not allowed in the country. stayed here for three nights at the "inncrowd" hostel, thoroughly reccomend this place.

delhi again

well ive just spent a couple of weeks down in goa and just want to mention a few people, steve and sheilagh( hope ive spent her name right) a really nice couple, who are a really good match and i hope she shares steves wish of spending time in goa each year, oh by the way steve im still trying that elastic band trick! ALSO TO A GUY CALLED GORDON IN BENAULIM< UNCANNILY SIMILAR CIRCUMSTANCES to myself and a really genuine guy< cheers mate and good luck with the new missus! BACK IN DELHI AT THE MOMENT AND ALTHOUGH I SAID IT WAS A LITTLE CRAZY , IT ACTUALLY FEELS QUITE FAMILIAR NOW, THAT SAID IM OFF TO SINGAPORE THIS EVENING FOR A DAMN GOOD PAMPERING, no more treading over the spit of betel!!! a quick note to say that if anyone reading this is not sure about travelling solo, dont be!!!
being solo gives you the opportunity to meet all people of all walks of life, something you may not do if inn the security of someone else..!! AS FOR THE INDIAN PEOPLE< I CAN HONESTLY SAY THAT THEY AS A RACE are one of the kindest going, yep even the scammers and con artists, at the end of the day most of them are only conning you out of pennies and usually with a smile...
